Naxos Marina

About
Naxos Marina occupies the working waterfront of Naxos Town (Chora), the island's capital and main port. It provides mooring for private yachts and motorboats directly in front of the town, making it one of the most conveniently located marinas in the central Cyclades.
What to Expect
The marina runs along the same quay that handles the large ferry traffic into Naxos, so the atmosphere is practical and lively rather than exclusive or resort-like. Berths are available for visiting yachts and smaller motorboats, and the setup allows sailors to step ashore directly into the commercial heart of Naxos Town — bakeries, tavernas, and the covered market are all within a five-minute walk. The waterfront promenade along the marina is also a popular evening stroll for locals and visitors alike, with cafés and bars facing the water.
The marina office operates daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. For berth inquiries, the listed contact number is +30 694 611 3923.
How to Get There
Naxos Marina is on the western edge of Naxos Town, directly adjacent to the main ferry terminal. If you're arriving by ferry, you are already at the quay. Coming by road from the south or from any of the island's inland villages, follow signs into Chora and continue toward the port — the marina is the stretch of waterfront immediately to the left (north) of the ferry dock. Parking along the waterfront promenade can be tight in summer; the car park just south of the port is a more reliable option.
Tips for Visiting
- Call ahead for berth availability during July and August — the marina fills quickly during peak Cycladic sailing season and space is not guaranteed on arrival.
- The marina office closes at 7:00 PM, so if you're arriving late, plan to sort paperwork the following morning.
- Provisioning is easy from here. The main supermarket, bakery, and fresh produce market in Naxos Town are all reachable on foot in under ten minutes.
- Ferry wash is a real factor. Large ferries pass close to the quay several times a day; make sure fenders and lines are secure before you leave the boat unattended.
- Fuel and mechanical services are available in town, but availability of specific marine parts varies — stock up in Athens or Rhodes if you're mid-passage.
What's Nearby
The Portara — the freestanding marble gateway of the unfinished Temple of Apollo — sits on the islet of Palatia directly north of the marina and is reachable on foot via the causeway in under five minutes. Naxos Town's Venetian Kastro neighborhood is a ten-minute walk uphill from the waterfront. Agios Georgios beach, the closest sandy beach to Chora, begins just south of the port. The old market street (Papavasiliou) running parallel to the waterfront has butchers, cheese shops, and kitchenware stores useful for longer sailing passages.
