Greek Islands
Samos
Samos lies close to the Turkish coast and was the birthplace of Pythagoras; the ancient site of Pythagoreion and the Heraion sanctuary are UNESCO-listed. KTEL Samou runs everything from the station in Samos Town (Vathy), with routes fanning out to Pythagorio and the airport, west along the north coast through Kokkari to Karlovasi, and on to Marathokampos. Remote villages such as Drakei see far fewer buses, and Sunday and off-season service is thin.
