Samothraki

Samothraki is a remote North Aegean island reached by ferry from Alexandroupoli, home to the ancient Sanctuary of the Great Gods at Palaiopoli and to Mount Saos, the highest peak in the Aegean. The local KTEL service works from Kamariotissa port beside the ferry quay, running up to Chora, inland to Lakkoma, and along the north coast through Palaiopoli and Therma. It is seasonal and thinner outside summer, and the mountainous east has no buses.
