Complete Guide to Exploring Naxos by Bus

Getting Around Naxos by Bus

Naxos has one of the most extensive bus networks of any island we cover — 13 KTEL routes reaching 91 stops, from the long sandy beaches of the west coast to the mountain villages of the interior. From the main stop on the Naxos Town (Chora) harbourfront you can reach Agios Prokopios, Agia Anna and Plaka in minutes, or ride further to Mikri Vigla and Pyrgaki, the Tragaea villages of Halki, Filoti and Apeiranthos, and the marble village of Apollonas in the far north.

Services are run by KTEL Naxos, with frequent departures from roughly April to October and a pared-back winter timetable that mainly serves the villages. One local quirk worth knowing: on Naxos you buy your ticket before boarding, at the KTEL office or kiosk — you can't pay the driver.

With Greek Island Buses you can buy your ticket online before you arrive, skip the queue at the port office, and board with a digital QR code straight from your phone.
