How to Get Around Skopelos by Bus (2026 Guide): Routes, Stops, Times & Fares

Skopelos has one bus line, and for most visitors that is genuinely all it needs. A single road runs roughly 37 km along the island from Skopelos Town in the east to Loutraki, the port below Glossa in the north-west, calling at the south-west beaches on the way — 16 stops and 38 departures in the current timetable, operated by Skopelos Bus Transports (Μικροσυγκοινωνίες Βορείων Σποράδων, the Northern Sporades microtransit brand of the Volos urban KTEL and the intercity KTEL of Magnesia). This guide covers what the line reaches, what it does not, and the details that catch people out.

The Skopelos bus network at a glance

Skopelos has two ferry ports, and the bus is the link between them. Most boats use Skopelos Town in the east, where the bus stand is on the port; ferries and hydrofoils also call at Loutraki, the small harbour below the hill village of Glossa at the other end of the island. If your ticket says Glossa or Loutraki and your room is in Skopelos Town, the bus is your connection — and it is the same single line in reverse.

End to end the run takes a little over an hour, and Panormos, roughly the midpoint, is about half an hour out of Skopelos Town. Because everything is on one road there is nothing to plan and no changing: you board, tell the driver where you are going, and watch for your stop.

Main Skopelos bus routes

• Skopelos Town ↔ Glossa ↔ Loutraki: the island's only bus line, and the only public transport between the two ferry ports, calling at Stafylos, Agnontas, Limnonari, Alikias (Xintari), Panormos, Adrina, Milia, Kastani, Ftelia, Elios (Neo Klima), Chovolos, Palio Klima and the Agios Ioannis (Kastri) junction on the way — route details.

Beaches on the bus route

The line is, in effect, a beach shuttle for the south-west coast: Stafylos and Agnontas first, then Limnonari, Panormos and Adrina, then Milia, Kastani and Ftelia, and finally Chovolos just past Elios. Between them these stops cover most of the swimming Skopelos is known for. What the line does not do is leave that road — the north and east coasts have no scheduled service at all.

Mamma Mia locations by bus

Two of the film's Skopelos locations are on the line, but with an important difference. Kastani Beach is a stop in its own right, so the beach used for the film's set pieces is a straightforward bus ride from either port. Agios Ioannis Kastri — the clifftop chapel from the wedding scene — is not. The bus stops at Agios Ioannis Junction (Kastri), which is where the road to the chapel leaves the main road; the service does not run down to the chapel itself, and you continue from the junction on foot or by taxi. Plan that leg before you set off, and check the time of your bus back.

Late buses and short runs

Two things in the printed timetable are worth knowing. First, not every bus runs the full length: four trips in each direction turn at Chovolos, just beyond Elios, and never reach Glossa or Loutraki. If Glossa is your destination, check that the departure you are waiting for goes all the way.

Second, the service runs genuinely late, and the last trips cross midnight. The 23:30 from Skopelos Town reaches Loutraki at 00:40; the 23:15 back from Loutraki arrives in town at 00:25; and a final 00:45 departure from Loutraki runs through to Skopelos Town at 01:55. If you are eating in Glossa or catching a very late boat the bus is still an option — just note that those post-midnight times belong to the next calendar day.

Ferry connections at Agnontas

Since May 2026 the operator also meets every ferry and hydrofoil arrival and departure at Agnontas, the small port on the south coast that is a stop on the main line. These are ad-hoc connections rather than scheduled trips, so they do not appear in the published timetable with fixed times. If your boat is using Agnontas, expect a bus to be there; if you want to be certain, the operator answers on +30 2424 309005.

Tickets and fares

You pay the driver on board, so carry small notes and coins rather than relying on a card. Fares go by distance along the line, and we do not publish fare figures for Skopelos — ask the driver rather than trusting a euro amount quoted on a blog. Skopelos tickets are not yet sold online through Greek Island Buses; where an operator does sell through us the price is identical to the counter and you board with a QR code on your phone. Summer and winter

The timetable described here is the summer service, in force since late June 2026. The winter 2026/27 tables have not been published yet — historically they appear around the end of September — so from autumn expect a much reduced service aimed at residents rather than beaches.
